The Ismaili Community Ensemble (ICE) was created by the Ismaili Council for the United Kingdom in September 2007 as part of the commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of His Highness the Aga Khan (who is referred to by Ismailis as Mawlana Hazar Imam). With more than 40 musicians, the Ensemble collaborates closely with the London-based Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), known internationally for maintaining the highest standard of music-making across a diverse range of repertoire.

ICE performing Resonance at Britten Theatre, The Royal College of Music in London – January 2013

Through the idea of story telling, the Ismaili Community Ensemble highlighted literature as a potent vehicle for the transmission of ideas, conveying messages in a manner that promotes understanding. The first half of the concert presented the stories The Pen and the Ants and The Story of the Reed, by Jalaluddin al-Rumi, while the second half was a study of The Shadow Landers, an interpretation of Plato's Allegory of The Cave and was accompanied by dance.

ICE performing in 3 Faiths: Expressions from the Abrahamic Traditions at Cadogan Hall in London – January 2011

The Ismaili Community Ensemble collaborated with musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Pandemonium and Morley Chamber Choir to present a cornucopia of beautiful music evoking the heritage of the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions.

ICE in Dubai – September 2010

The Ismaili Community Ensemble undertook a journey to Dubai at the end of September 2010. During the trip, they collaborated with local Jamati members in a performance at the Ismaili Centre, supported an international fundraising event organised by FOCUS, and conducted a workshop with children challenged by disabilities.
