From infants to teenagers, all were engaged in a creative process of expressing their happiness and gratitude for the news of Imam’s arrival. The young ones with the help of their parents created painted pebbles inspired by Mawlana Hazar Imam’s words. With the music of Salim Suleman’s Jubilee Mubarak song filling the air, the youth were excited to write their messages in 3D heart cards.
The students from upper primary level also did pebble painting and wrote words and sentences to express themselves. For some students, the word was Peace, Love, Knowledge, Success, or Smile. One student used the analogy of stone and diamond to express her relationship between her and the Imam.
Secondary level students participated in an activity called “Me to We” where they individually wrote their messages for the Imam of the time on pennants and painted the pots with various geometric patterns. Even the teachers involved in this celebration could feel the creative wave as one of the teachers expressed: “All the students I can see creating these art pieces have a very unique smile on their space which gives me immense satisfaction. It just tells me that the Imam’s visit plays a key role in each Murid’s life from young ones to older members of our Jamat.” Some teachers were really happy with the resources which were made available for the celebration and shared how it was a way of bringing all the REC students together to create something new and different. In one of the hostels, they had invited a Mandala expert to teach the students how to do mandalas; a circular dotting style to improve concentration. The students who learnt this new art form were curious to use and benefit from this in future.
Overall, the event of Jalsa was received very well across India and children of every age enjoyed creating their special gifts for the Imam of the time which will remain as a lifetime memory for them.
