H.E. Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and Meisa Batayneh, Principal Architect, Founder, Maisam Architects and Engineers, Jordan visited Ismaili Centre, Dubai. Both are members of the Aga Khan Award for Achitecture Steering Committee.
Sheikha Mai is the founder of the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, and President of its Board of Directors. An NGO that was established in Muharraq in 2002, under Sheikha Mai’s patronage and leadership, the Revitalization of Murrraq received the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Meisa Batayneh served on the Master Jury for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2019.
After a brief tour of the Centre which included the Jamatkhana, the Aga Khan Early Learning Centre, Courtyard and the Social Hall, the delegation composed of four other members (three of who were members of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and the fourth who was the daughter of Meisa Batayneh) viewed the video titled ‘Homage to His Highness the Aga Khan - Adrienne Clarkson Prize for Global Citizenship’.
The visit was followed by a dinner hosted by NC President in honour of the guests.
