Foremost among the principles of the Shia Ismaili Tariqah of Islam is the recognition of the Imam-of-the-Time. Imamat Day is an occasion to express gratitude to Mawlana Hazar Imam, and to reaffirm our spiritual allegiance to the Imam and our commitment to the ethics of the faith.

Sixty-seven years ago, on July 11 1957, Mawlana Hazar Imam succeeded his grandfather, Mawlana Sultan Mahomed Shah, as the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims.

On 11th July every year, the Shiʿa Imami Ismaili Jamat worldwide commemorates Imamat Day to celebrate the ascension of our beloved Mawlana Shah Karim al-Hussaini to the throne of Imamat. Today marks 67 years of our Imam’s Imamat and his unwavering commitment to enlightening our spiritual and material lives.

Mawlana Hazar Imam's vision has been widely recognised by governments, international organisations and civil society institutions. Today, the Ismaili Imamat's privileged relationships with many of these, enhance its capacity to contribute to human development on a global scale.

We invite the Jamat to attend this evening’s ceremonies throughout the jurisdiction to mark this event.

Imamat Day Mubarak!
