We are pleased to launch “Expressions of Love”, a special Diamond Jubilee initiative to commemorate Mawlana Hazar Imam’s upcoming visit to Canada.
Children and youth (ages 4-24 years) in any region are invited to share a photographic expression and message reflecting their personal relationship with our beloved Imam, which will be shared with the Jamat across Canada. The submission deadline is April 29, 2018.
Families are encouraged to work together. Remember, this photo will also be a keepsake and memory of your special bond with Mawlana Hazar Imam and the commemoration of his Diamond Jubilee!
How Do I Get Started?

- What messages would I want to share with the Imam?
- How might I express feelings of trust, love, devotion, and gratitude to the Imam?
- How does Mawlana Hazar Imam’s guidance impact my daily life?
Identify the key ideas, words, & images that came out of your responses to the questions above. Remember to let your imagination run free for this part of the activity – there are no wrong answers!

Take a Photo
Watch this video to help you capture the best pictures. Then experiment - play around with different angles, lighting, and other elements, to find a style you like. Remember, your photo needs to be landscape (horizontal i.e. wider than it is tall), in high resolution (your file should be at least 1MB) and in .jpg format in order to be included in any of the Expressions of Love displays. If you are using your phone to take the photo, make sure your HDR is turned on and avoid using flash.
Finally, take your pictures – keep in mind the key ideas from the last step and everything you’ve learned about photography in this step!

Think about why you chose this image. What feelings or reflections are you sharing? What message does your photograph convey? What does it mean to you? Write a caption of up to 30 characters. Think of this caption as a description of what your photograph represents, and not a description of the photograph itself.
