ANZ Jamat through the Ismaili CIVIC Christmas Donation drive made Christmas a little more special for families in need reflecting the community’s ethic of civic engagement and good citizenship, exemplifying Islam’s core values of service, peace, compassion, and care for the vulnerable.

Christmas is the time to be jolly, they say. It is however not an easy time of the year for many families across the ANZ Region. Ismaili CIVIC, like it does each year, took a step to help a little. The community across Australia and New Zealand came together to generously contribute gifts, toys, books, food and partnered with Salvation Army to help them make Christmas a little better for the families they support.

We are grateful to the Jamat across Australia and New Zealand for their generous contribution to the Christmas donation drive and for taking time to join in where needed to beautifully wrap the presents and make it extra special and thoughtful. We also appreciate the team of volunteers who worked hard to make the 2023 donation drive successful.

Here is an excerpt of a note sent to us by Salvation Army “Wow, it is done and what a blessing and a privilege it has been to be a part of the program again this year. I would like to acknowledge all the donors for your generosity and seeing all the wonderfully wrapped presents. There have been many words of appreciation and some tears from parents or caregivers, and many surprised and excited children.”

Thank you Jamat for being Ismaili CIVIC volunteers, we wish everyone a happy and joyful festive season.
